Chiefs Host Giants, Anger Football Gods

October 1st, 2009 by Lee Eldridge

Justin TuckThe Chiefs are to host the New York Giants on Sunday. The Giants are 3-0 and playing very good football. The Chiefs obviously angered the football gods last year. Their opening schedule has been brutal. Like the Eagles last week, the Giants have a premier offensive and defensive line. The match-up for the Chiefs looks bad.

Chiefs Offense
There’s little reason to be hopeful that the Chiefs can score many points against the Giants, though the Chiefs best offensive performance this year did come in their one home game against the Raiders. Dwayne Bowe may still be out this week. Expect newly signed tight end Leonard Pope to play. And the Chiefs have shaken up their offensive line and look like they’ll start Ryan O’Callaghan at right tackle. The Chiefs should perform better at home than they did on the road at Philadelphia.

Chiefs Defense
The Chiefs defense has had moments where they’ve looked OK. The Giants are coming into Kansas City banged up at a few positions, and have a lot of youth at wide receiver. Expect the Giants to pound the ball a lot on Sunday, and lean heavily on their running game.

Prediction: Giants 24, Chiefs 13
