It's time to trade Greinke. We won't get any value out of such a superstar if our team isn't going to compete for the duration of his stay here. The chance of getting a few top-notch prospects that will be around for several years far outweighs whatever benefit Greinke will bring to a perennially-bottom-dwelling team.

Sad, but true.

Hey Ernie and Bobby -- Good comments. Thanks.

I certainly understand that the Royals were stuck with Guillen. Joe Poz at the Star wrote a great article at the time about why the Guillen signing was an awful move. It appears Joe knew more than the Royals on this one.

IMO Teahen is an average to even possibly above average third baseman, and the Royals were unable to keep him because of wrapping up their money in mistakes like Guillen.

Just hard to have faith as a Royals fan right now. But so long as we have Greinke and Soria, there's a glimmer of hope :)

I agree with you, Id rather have Mark Teahen than Jose Guillen. The only problem is, there wasnt a single team in baseball that would give up anything for a below average $12 million , aging , clubhouse cancer of a ball player. We only have to put up with Guillen for one more (contract) year before we have rid ourselves of both Guillen and Teahen ( who compares statistic-wise to Guillen which makes them both below average). So for 2011, the Royals will have rid themselves of 2 below average ML outfielders and $17 million dollars. Dont forget Cruz, Farnsworth, Olivo, Buck and Jacobs will all be off the books as well, so look for the 2011 Royals to be big spenders in the Free Agent market.

I like this, though the Royals likely tried to dump Guillen and his salary and were unsuccessful.
